Georanking is a form of behavioral geography that combines the physical movement of consumers with satellite tracking systems to create a ranking index of store and attraction locations. Consumers in major metropolitan areas and shopping districts are recruited to carry Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) and technology equipped devices designed to collect data including location, time, and movement. The Georanking IndexTM (GI) is available to companies and organizations that benefit in understanding consumer patterns:
GeoRanking Index
Georanking Index values have been assigned to store and attraction locations
when GPS tracks proceed nearby a location using proximity analysis. Consumer
time spent browsing near a storefront or inside a store location are captured
and incorporated into the analysis of the Georanking Index. The data is summarized
and portrayed in “heat maps” that are color coded to visually portray the Georanking
Index. Subscribers to the Georanking Index can select customer segmentation based
on gender, age, and income.
